In case of an emergency you need to know about E911.

Avia Phone makes sure to provide you with emergency numbers in the case that an emergency does occur. It is important to understand the differences between normal 911 and E911 and how this service works with Avia Phone. To insure that you will always be able to contact the proper emergency center you will be required to fill out a short form during the sign up process that tells us the exact address from where you will be using our phone service.

E911 and Basic 911
We currently offer the following two 911 dialing services: Enhanced 911(E911) and Basic 911.

If you are using E911, then on dialing 911, your telephone number and address of your physical location provided to us by you would then be automatically sent to the local emergency center closest to your location. The operators there would have the required information they need to send you help or call you back if necessary.

On the other hand, if you belong to a location where the emergency center is not able to automatically receive your telephone number and address, then you have Basic 911 dialing services. Now, when you dial 911 it is important that you know that you will be required to give your number and address to the operator so that he may be able to dispatch help to your location or call you back if necessary.

In the case that you live in an area that does not support either basic 911 or E911, your calls will be sent to a National Emergency Response Center where Call Center agents will collect your phone number and address so that they may contact the nearest emergency center in your location. It is important that you know that if your calls are sent to the National Emergency Center that you will be required to give the Agents your phone number and location. The call will be forwarded to the National Emergency Center if there are problems verifying your location, you are located in an area that does not support Basic or E911 services, or there is no landline 911. You are using a Softphone or a Wi-Fi (wireless internet) Phone. Due to the portable nature of these devices, you may identified to be present at a different location.

In the case that you move to a new location you will need to update your 911 information so that in a case of an emergency your calls will be directed to the nearest emergency center in your new location.

Note: As more local emergency centers become equipped to automatically receive telephone numbers and addresses, Avia phone will upgrade its customers from Basic 911 to E911 dialing services automatically without notice.

How to activate your 911 service?
We need you to register the physical location where you will be using our phone service when you sign up for any of our plans and for some of the extras that you can purchase once you are a customer. You will also be able to edit your 911 info via your online account login under "Account Info". It may take several hours to activate or edit your information, and you will receive a confirmation e-mail once your 911 dialing has been activated or edited. It is important to know that you will not be able to dial 911 in the case of power failure or if your Avia Phone service is terminated.
